Expansion for Peterborough Firm
Peterborough-based book manufacturer Printondemand-worldwide.com has defied the recession by expanding with the takeover of Digital Book Print of Milton Keynes.
They have moved all production to their existing Peterborough operation where the company already produces almost a million books per annum, both paperback and hardback, and dispatches them throughout the world working in partnership with joint venture partners in the US, Australia and Asia, producing books for some of the world's leading publishers.
The Peterborough firm, now 15 years old, is recognised within the industry as one of the world's leading short-run book printers, specialising equally in single copies of books which are dispatched to the end user and quantities of up to three thousand books for stock. The acquisition will enable them to offer longer-run printing as well as focussing on what is known as "print on demand" production, which means books are only produced when needed, so there is minimal wastage.
Managing director Andy Cork said, "We have invested heavily in technology and staff, with a full-time software programmers updating and developing our state-of-the-art computer systems to provide a 'just-in-time system' ordering what you want, when you want it, all of this produced in an environmentally friendly BREAMA building and with a carbon neutral policy.
We are growing organically and through acquisition with more ambitious plans this year to grow by 25 percent."
