Colour investment heralds new era at Printondemand-worldwide
Printondemand-worldwide, the leading UK-based digital printer, is expanding its colour printing credentials with the launch this week of a new website dedicated to 'Creating Brilliant Colour'.
The revolutionary new portal offers publishers, businesses and individuals instant access to a range of on-demand colour printing packages, which combine cost-effectiveness with complete flexibility on quantity and specifications.
The launch of the website comes in response to rising demand for short runs of full colour perfect bound or case bound books, personalised direct mail and business reports.
Printondemand-worldwide has this year invested significantly in colour printing technology at its Cambridgeshire headquarters. An HP Indigo was introduced alongside the existing Xerox colour kit, effectively doubling colour print capacity since 2009.
Managing Director Andy Cork said engineering enhancements have enabled the HP Indigo to produce near-lithographic quality with 1200dpi x 1200dpi and outstanding digital halftone screens, complemented by an output of 80ppm, regardless of stock weight.
'Our ability to offer short run full-colour printing for a variety of products is a very exciting development because it opens up a complete range of options for publishers, for example, who want to test the market before embarking on a full production run,' he said.
'In the past, litho printing was prohibitively expensive for quantities of less than 250 but it's now affordable for almost any production run. This is the future. Orders from the new colour website will be fed directly into our workflow system for processing and there are a huge number of additional finishing options, including case binding or perfect binding for books'
